Elastics

Elastics are rubber bands which are stretched between the upper and lower braces to move teeth.

The desired tooth movement is obtained by placing hooks at appropriate places on the braces.

In the example pictured, elastics have been used to pull the top teeth backwards and the lower teeth forward to correct a protrusive bite.

The more elastics are worn, the more effective they are.
